Show TRUSTY GETS DRTJNK; ALARM IS GIVEN When the officials at the penitentiary set the table for supper last night there was one chair vacant. It had been occupied occu-pied since December 28. 1901, by J. W. Kane, a trusty, who is doing a "spat" of twenty-seven months for forgery. Kane, who is a trusty, had been sent with the prison-team to the Oregon, Short Line depot for a load of freight. At 6 o'clock last night the team was found at 8eventh South an Sixth East streets and It was believed Kane had escaped. The acting warden notified the police and offered a reward for his arrest. He was picked up by Patrolman Joe Bush in a drunken condition and was Identified, after which Detective Chase took him to the penitentiary. |
