Show RAISED FUND OF $300,000 PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 27. The sum of 1300,000 has been subscribed tor the establishment In this city of an American Amer-ican academy of dramatic art. This was done at a dinner party Just held at the Hotel Bellevue and which was given by William F Donovan, president of the Eastern Steel company, for Oeorge Clark, formerly leading man of the late Augustin Daly's company. Nearly all of the diners were millionaires million-aires and most of them multi -millionaires. P. A. B, Wldener and John M. Mack subscribed 2100,000 each; William M. Bunn, former Governor of Idaho, and Senator Charles A. Porter put their names down for 225,000 each, and Clarence Clar-ence Wolf offered to raise $50,000 as a contribution from the - firm of Wolf Bros.- Mr. Donovan declared he would I raise $1,000,000 as soon as the first million mil-lion was raised. |
