One incident of the visit of President Roosevelt last evening was the theft of a suit case belonging to the Rev. R. S. Tipple, one f the committee who met the President on his arrival. Figuring in the story of the theft of the case Js a stranger who stood on the front step of the residence of William N. Bowne, where President Roosevelt was entertained at dinner, and representing himself as Dr. Tipple, took the case from a messenger boy and hurriedly left. The suit case is said to have contained not only Dr. Tipple's , evening clothes, but a valuable piece of Jewelry as well, which Dr. Tipple was anxious to have the President see. . ' i i ' i |
