The steamer San Juan, from Panama -and Central Cen-tral American ports, brings news regarding the war situation. Passengers from Nicaragua, Salvador and Honduras tell of bands of fighting men hurrying in one direction and another.'and passengers from Guatemala speak of war preparations prepa-rations being rushed in every part of the republic. The Government of Guate-tala Guate-tala has established a strict censorship of all mail. D. Mulholland, who comes from La Union, in Salvador, says that large numbers num-bers of Salvadorans have been shipped in small boats to Amapala to take ser-. vice under the banner of Bonilla. R. A. Weiss, a Seattle mining engineer, says that in Nicaragua he saw a detachment of Nicaraguan soldiers at Leon on their way to assist Sierra. The San Juan passed the American squadron on February 18th ofT Lizard point. Tho cruiser New Tork signaled and asked to be reported all well. |
