WOEX Or OBOANIZING ' THB NEW DEPARTMENT. WASHINGTON. April 27. While the work of organization and preparattbn Is progressing satisfactorily In the new Department of Commerce and Labor, Secretary Cortelyou does not expect to accomplish much in the way of the objects for which the department .was created until after the beginning of the next fiscal year; but by July 1st he hopes to have the department thoroughly thor-oughly organized. Prior to that time, probably, the appointment ap-pointment of the Assistant Secretary will be made. Several persons .are under consideration for the office, but no definite conclusion has been reached. With a small force, Commissioner Garfield of the Bureau of Corporations Is gathering such Information and data as will be of value to him when he Initiates the original Investigations Into the subject of corporations. Just now he Is collecting data from the various Btatee concerning the laws and Constitutional Consti-tutional provisions relating to corporations.
