Show SAYS nE IS NOT AH OSCULATORY ARTIST Lieut. R. P. Ilobson, Now in Salt Lake, Objects to That Title. Lieut. Richmond Pearson Hobson, the hero of the Merrlmac Incident in the Spanish-American war, arrived in Salt Lake last night and Is registered at the Knutsford.' Lieut. Hobson is making a tour of the country on the lecture platform, and will speak In the Salt Lake Theater tonight to-night on "The American Navy; It3 Traditions Tra-ditions and Victories." In his "lecture he recounts many events in. the Spanish-American war, but only alludes briefly to the Merrlmac Incident. Lieut Hobson objects to the titls of "osculatory artist" which the newspapers newspa-pers have given him, and declares that while there may have been a very slight foundation for It at first, the matter was so magnified and enlarged upon that the stories now bear no semblance to the truth. Lieut. Hobson. who had to resign from the navy on account of weak eyes, has taken to the lecture platform because be-cause he likes that line, and because he knows that the American people enjoy hearing of their navy, which is. In the opinion of many, far more Important than the army. |
