Show LAWYERS DEFEND ' LEGAL FRATERNITY Speakers at Annual Di:ier of Bar Association Reply to President Joseph F. Smith. The Ear association of Utah held Its annual dinner at the Commercial club Saturday night. The alleged remarks of President Joseph Jo-seph F. Smith of the Mormon church to the effect that lawyers were non-pro-ducere and should be disposed of, were given a vigorous rebuke by Wiley L. Brown, who was followed by Judge Whitecotton of Provo, who said that President Smith was not In earnest when he made the remarks attributed to him, but was excited. He said that President Smith had lost beavily in Utah Sugar stock, and when cries came from the table. Judge White-cotton White-cotton declared that he knew what he was talking about that Smith had lost money through the efforts of a lawyer who was not up to the ethical standard of the profession. . |
