Show MERGER OF BIG LEAGUES Pulllam Willing to Step Down in Order to Promote Pro-mote Harmony. NEW TORK. June IS H. S. Pulllam, president of the National Baseball league, who said yesterday that he knew nothing of the reported negotiations for a consolidation consoli-dation with the American league, is today credited with a statement as follows: "If the majority of the National league club-owners desire a consolidation of Interests In-terests with the American league It meets with my hearty approval; and if this can be brought about only by the election of President Johnson aa head of 'the combined com-bined organizations, I will gladly co-operate to that end. My tenure of office is only for one year and expiree next December, De-cember, and at that time I will efface myself my-self from the baseball map. Or, If Mr. Herrmann's views are thoee of the National Na-tional league and the occasion for consolidation consol-idation is urgent, I will willingly facilitate facili-tate matters by resigning st any time before my term of office expires." |
