The board relieved haa acted upon a number of cases since its appointment and was composed of Lieut.-Col. J.und. Capt. Sam Porter and Lieut. A. J. Skid-more. Skid-more. The board of examiners recently appointed ap-pointed by order met at the armory last Thursday night and arranged the subjects sub-jects upon which the newly elected officers of-ficers of the guard are to be examined. The principal subjects to be covered are. military correspondence, infantry drill regulatlona, cavalry drill regulations, regula-tions, artillery drill regulations, regulations regula-tions of the National Guard of Utah, manual of guard duty, and small arms firing regulations. Lieut. A. J. Skidmore has severed hla connections with the new organisation being promoted by C. W. Warwick and will now devote his entire time to the signal corps. 1 Capt. J. A. Greenewald of the signal corps leaves In a few days for New York where he will spend the next six weeks on a combined business and pleasure trip. The Lieutenants met at the armory last Sunday morning and commenced a study of "the small arms firing regulations. regula-tions. The school will continue this subject sub-ject tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock. . The battery was given Instruction In guard duty last Monday night by Lieut. W. C. Webb. The new infantry company was not mustered in as expected last Monday night on account of not having the required re-quired strength. However, there is now a surplus on the muster roll and the men will become Guardsmen next Monday. The Fort Douglas range is now In readiness for the Guardsmen and range target practice will be commenced In the course of a couple of weeks. . . Private Ed Marks of the signal corps returned from a six weeks' furlough last week. The strength of the signal corps has of late been apparently smaller on account ac-count of about six ef the men being out of town on furlough. |
