Mordecal, proprietor of a sporting store, and Frederick Fred-erick Oldham, a merchant tailor, and Louis Orphans, colored, steward of the British steamer Templemore. charged with conspiring to defraud the United States Government by evading the payment of dutles.cn imported goods, were brought before the United States court here today to-day and pleaded guilty. Judge Morris sentenced them to serve twenty days in jail and pay a flne of $o(K. |
