Show PORCUPINE OUTWITS DEPUTY SHERIFF VINE George H. Vine, deputy sheriff, confesses con-fesses to having been outwitted recently by a porcup'ne which displayed strategy superior to that exhibited by some commanders com-manders In the recent war. Mr. Vine and Carl T. Buehmer of this city w-ere camping last week on the headwaters head-waters of the Weber river. The two sons of Mr. Vine and the three sons of Mr. Buehmer were all sleeping in a teni, while their fathers slept ' in the open a short distance away. Mr. Buehmer was awakened when a porcupine brushed his face. He awakened Mr. Vine, who immediately pulled a revolver re-volver from under his pillow. It was at this point that the porcupine bean the practice of strategy. He "streaked it" for the tent as fast as his short legs would carry him and a moment later was crawling over the faces of the five small boys. Within two seconds John. Bilhe and Phil Buehmer and George and Billie Vine were wide awake and .rambling. Mr. Vine npver did get a safe .chance for a s.ot at the porcupine, which had disappeared disap-peared before the boys had been quieted. No one was hurt. |
