Show WSTEHT VEILS SlOTjjjGIT LI John S. Wright Mortally Wounded at Home in Early Morning. opecial to The Tribune. M'GILL, New, Aug. 17. John S. Wright was shot and mortally wounded at his home about 5:30 o'clock this morning and died at 8:30 o'clock In the Steptoe hospital In East Ely. Little can be learned regarding .the shooting, and Sheriff W. S. Enslow Is conducting an Investigation. The only Information In-formation thus far obtained, according to Sheriff Enslow, Is that Wright was going on a hunting trip with a neighbor. At about 5:30 o'clock Wright called at the door of the neighbor's home, which . is just a few feet from the Wright home, and said he had been shot. Wright then returned to his home and was followed by his friend. Anothr neighbor was summoned and asked to ' call a doctor. Both neighbors say that Wright made no statement to them regarding the shooting. shoot-ing. Dr. Ashley was called and found the man in a serious condition. According to Dr. Ashley, Wright told him thaL he had dropped a gun, but made no further comment. com-ment. Mrs. Wright was in the house, 1 but says she was in en adjoining room and knows nothing of the shoollng except that she heard the report of the gun and that her husband came to the room where she was and told her be was shot. When Dr. Ashley arrived at the Wright home he directed that the ambulance be called, and the wounded man was taken to the Steptoe hospital, where he was placed under the charge of Dr. R. A. Bowdle, chief Burgeon of the Nevada Consolidated Con-solidated Copper company. According to Dr. Bowdle, the bullet entered en-tered the abdomen and passed almost In a straight line through the body, coming out at the hack. The course of the bullet the authorities are unable to reconcile with the statement of Wright that he '"dropped the gun." No arrangements will bo made for the funeral until word is received from Wright's mother, who resides re-sides in Idaho Falls. Idaho. Wright is survived here by his wife and two young daughters. |
