Show era MM' mm w Motor Transport Recruiting Officer Hopeful of Results Here. Captain J. W. Murphy, recruiting officer offi-cer for motor transport convoy, arrived in Salt Lake yesterday to arrange details for the stimulation of recruiting: for the motor transport corps, for which a campaign, cam-paign, will be launched upon the arrival of the, convoy, which left Evanston at 11 o'clock Sunday morning and is due to arrive ar-rive here about 1 o'clock Tuesday. Captain Murphy states that he is anticipating- the securing of a large number of recruits in Utah and especially in Salt Lake since the added attraction of training schools have been made in this branch of the service. Pie says: "Definite stpa have been taken toward the opening of schools in connection with the motor transport corps shops for the extensive training of men who qualify for enlistment. "Men who have had previous experience experi-ence in the different branches of the automotive industry are highly desirable, but this does not mean that such men without experience In these lines are not aocoptable. Certain courses have been outlined particularly for men having had experience. For men who have had no , experience in any of the automobile lines, 1 sufficient educational qualifications are necessary for them to go on with tho work with men who have had previous occupational experience. "The purpose of the courses outlined Is to produce for the army a highly skilled body of men, so skilled that upon their return to civil life they can rightly claim to be machinists, automobile repair men or ignition experts. The following courses are offered : Motor assemblers, ignition, "trouble shooters," axle transmission trans-mission and chassis. "Training schools to which recVuits i will be sent have been opened at the following cumps: Camp Holablrd, Baltimore, Balti-more, Md. ; Camp Jessup, Atlanta, Ga. ; i Camp Boyd, Ei Paso, Texas, and Camp ; Normoyle, San Antonio, Texas. The pay j ranges from $30 per month for the pri-! pri-! vale to fSl per month for the quarter-I quarter-I master sergeant. In addition, all eloth-I eloth-I ing, quarters, medical and dental atten-1 atten-1 tlon and training equipment are free." Captain Murphy said that a large number num-ber of recruits had already been obtained ob-tained in the various states through which the convoy has passed and that so far the convoy as, a recruiting medium had been a huge success.
