With S.'?"0 in Liberty bonds and cash on hiw person, and a bank book showing a balance of J'.'OO, a man whose possesions indicated Iiitn to ha Anton Sleigerwald of Salt Iake, cut his throat in the Jail at Kaysville, apparently crazed with the fear that he would be robbed. He was discovered discov-ered yesterday morning with the gash in his throat apparently inflicted with a piece of ijlriss taken from a broken transom tran-som over the ceil door. He was brought to the Holy Cros-- hospital in Salt Lake, ami died last evening six hours after his arrival. The man was first seen at Kaysville Kriday evening when the depot agent of the Denver dc Itio 'Jrande railroad saw him sitting on the depot steps. He talked irrationally with the agent. He said that he considered himself in danger of being robbed, and exhibited at the time the Liberty bonds, much frayed from handling. He was later arrested by Deputy Sheriff William i. Foxley, but was relea-sed when he declared his intention of walking to Salt Iviike. The same officer was called half an hour later by persons living along the railroad track, who reported that the man was acting strangely In the neighborhood. neighbor-hood. Th is time he was placed in the Kaysville jail. The deputy sheriff found him lying in a pool of blood in his cell early yesterday morning, and immediately brought him to Salt Lake. No clue has been discovered to the man's address. His personal belongings are being be-ing held by the Kaysville authorities until they can locate relatives for whom they are now searching. The body will be taken to Bountiful. |
