Show Coaches Draw Up 1919 High School Grid Schedule REPRESENTATIVES of tine Utah Hijrli School Athletic association yesterday met with coaches of the Salt Lake division schools for the purpose of drawing up a football foot-ball schedule for the present season. In addition to the athletic, directors of the division schools, Ti Hie Olson, new coach of the L. D. 8. U., and Malcolm Watson, instructor at the Veber Normal Nor-mal at Ogdcn, were also in attendance. These two coaches arranged a number of games with the local schools on their off dates. Srill mono may be contracted for later on in the season. It was the opinion of the board of eontrol of the V. II. S. A. A. that the two new schools, the L. D. S. U. and Weber Normal, should not try to play a full schedule during their first season, sea-son, and only arrange for three or four games on off dates. This they decided to do, and, although these games will not count for or against the local schools in their standing in the division di-vision race, they will enable these grid-ders grid-ders the right kind of competition and practice. State Tourney Possible. The subject of a possible state high school football tournament was also broached at yesterday's meeting. Tho local coaches were very much in favor of such a proposition, and it is now up to the other schools of the state whether or not the plan will go through. Thero is little doubt but that they will favor such a meet, for it would help to j establish football upon a firmer basis , than ever before, and ultimately lend j to that branch of athletics becoming the major sport of all state schools. The schools which aro expected to put strong grid elevens on the field this vear in Utah county, and who will represent rep-resent the southern half of the state in the proposed tournament, an' Spanish Span-ish Fork, I!. Y. I". high school, Spriug-viile, Spriug-viile, American Fork, Eureka, Payson, Lehi. and Wasatch academy. 'The northern schools would include Brigham Citv, llvruin, Logan high, j Wcllsville. and E. V. C, while the Salt Lake division would be eonipn-.vl of East and "West hieh, Jordan, Granite, Ogd.-n, and Davis county. The present plan is to have the winning win-ning eleven in the northern division play the title holders in Utah county on November It, and then bring that winning aggregation to Suit Lake to clash with the. best team in the local division for state honors about November Novem-ber 21. A board of arbitration will be chosen later in thn season to decide any dis- putcs which may come up, as well as to give all the schools which .wish to participate in the tournament a chance to get into one . of the three proposed divisions. The officials - who wore yeslcrdav chosen to act in the Salt. Lake division di-vision were Elasier, Norgren, Varley, S. Olson. C.-intlcr, Ashton, C. Peterson, 0. O. Wilson. K. Peterson, and Reddish.
