Operation. !; To reconstruction hospital work Salt 'IjiLake gave a recruit the past week in ,ione of its most attractive young girls, JMiss Kathleen Roberts, better known to her friends as "Sam," a familiar nickname. Miss Roberts, who is the j! daughter of Chaplain Brigham H. Rob-lt Rob-lt erts, -now with the American army in 1' France, left Thursday to take up work I In a reconstruction hospital at CayJe IjMay, a summer resort on the Atlantic M coast. Ill Miss Roberts received training in 1 physical culture at the University of 1 1 Utah last year, and when the call came I'll for workers in reconstruction hospitals ll'j she offered her skill to the service of l her country. She received a telegram j Ij last week accepting her services, and ip left at once to take up her new duties, ijl'j She is a sister of Mrs. T. W. Naylor and of Ben E. Roberts of this city, and is a popular young society girl. Three other prominent young Salt Lake women left last week to become Hi Btudent nurses at Camp Lewis. They were Miss Mary Young, daughter of Brigadier General and Mrs. Richard W. Young, Miss Helen M. Cannon and Miss - flff Naegle. The young women vol-J vol-J Steered in a recent call for nurses, and are the first to be called into service serv-ice from -the campaign for the enlistment enlist-ment of student nurses. V meetings of literary clubs will be held this week on account of the order P of the board of health forbidding pub-lie pub-lie meetings. Women 's clubs of a general gen-eral philanthropic character have also postponed meetings until further notice. Only Red Cross auxiliaries will be allowed al-lowed to meet. The regular monthly meeting of the board of directors of the Sarah Daft home, scheduled for Monday, has been postponed. The Red Cross auxiliary of the Ladies-' Aid society of the First Congregational Congre-gational church will meet Tuesday from 10 until 5 o'clock at the church. Members Mem-bers are requested to bring luncheon. Mizpah chapter No. 5, 0. E. S., will postpone indefinitely the special meeting meet-ing aud children's party announced for the last of this month. The Red Cross auxiliary of the Catholic Catho-lic Woman 's league will meet Monday and Thursday afternoon at the Dooly block for sewing, and Wednesday afternoon after-noon at Amelia palace for gauze work. An urgent request is made tor workers, since the demand for garments and surgical sur-gical dressings from headquarters is great. The Red Cross auxiliary of the Ladies' La-dies' Literary club will have a special all-day meeting Monday at the clubhouse club-house in addition to the regular meeting meet-ing Wednesday. The extra meeting is to meet a call for Red Cross headquarters headquar-ters for additional work. A birthday party to have been given by the Veteran Rebekahs si the home of Mrs. Marae Schuyler tomorrow evening has been postponed. The Red Cross auxiliary of the Women of the University of Utah will meet at 7:30 p. m. Monday and 1:30 p. m. Wednesday. Wednes-day.
