Show REPUBLICS SOLVE 11BEIIPR0BLEMS Big Trucks Used to Get Out Timber for Railroads. j if "Today, with the increasing scarcity of teams and drivers, to say nothing of the need of tapping timber beyond team haul from a railroad, the motor truck is truly demonstrating its usefulness for the lumberman lum-berman and logger," says H. F. Harris, general saiesmanager of the Republic Motor Mo-tor Truck company, Inc., Alma, Mich., in a communication addressed to the Randall-Republic company, local dealers in Republic trucks. "There are millions and millions of feet of the finest quality of hnrdwood scattered scat-tered throughout the middle west and the sou tii that have never been cut because, being located In small blocks and far from railroads, it was Impracticable to haul the logs to a railroad or a sawmill. The motor truck has come to the rescue at. the psychological moment and Ls enabling manufacturers to get out this timber. What is true of the hardwood sections also applies with equal force to those parts of the country where spruce and other much-wanted timber abounds. "Timber that is located a considerable distance from the railroad makes it extremely ex-tremely costly to haul out by team. The cost, in fact, is practicably prohibitive." In dismissing the use of Republic trucks in solving unusual problems of lumbering lumber-ing in the east, south and middle west. Manager Duncan of the Randall-Republic company said: "Tli is is but one example of the way Republic trucks have come lo the front in times of emergency and have handled all sorts of transposition problems efficiently ef-ficiently and economically. "Right here in the intermountain region, although there is riot much hauling haul-ing of timber to do. there have been a , large number of rases where one Republic with one driver has replaced four or five teams with four or five drivers and has done the hauling better and at much smaller cost. "Republic trucks are especially well adapted to meet unusual conditions such as bad roads and sleep grades. The celebrated Republic-Torbensen Interna! gear drive transmits fully 92 per cent of the power generated by the motor direct to the driving wheels. This is over 10 per cent, higher than any other truck I know of." The Randall -Republic company an -nounces ttuif It has In utork practically all sizes of Repuhlir- trucks ready fnr immediate im-mediate delivery to Salt Lake purchasers. |
