Show NAVY WORKERS ARE IN GREAT DEMAND 'Despite the best efforts of the employment em-ployment division of the department of labor, the demand for navy yard workmen work-men is still far in excess of the supply, and the government is again urging qualified men, as a patriotic duty, to enroll en-roll for such service. Both common laborers la-borers and skilled mechanics are needed, and the government offers free transportation transpor-tation to the place of employment for all applicants who are willing to sign a six months' contract. Any citizen of the United States or any of the allied countries coun-tries is eligible for a job. provided he is not In class 1 of the draft. The regular regu-lar working day in the navy yards is eight hours, with time and one-half for overtime. Applicants should call on C. A. Crock welt, local secretary of the civil service, at the postoffice immediately. |
