However, that inning was the 'only lapse Lefty had, though for a time a wH3 throw in the eighth gave the Angete i a bit more of hope. In addition to being able to report a victory in the opening drive, there la a something even better to report to the Salt Lake fans. That good news la the signing of 'Karl Crandall and Rube Ev-i Ev-i ans, both in superb shape. The Angel home folks apparently took more interest in what the renowned Sam i. Crawford would do than they did in the 1 winning or losing the game. There had been lour whispering that Wahoo Sam had 1 a giass arm, but he heaved a Bee out at home, another out at third. marie a a record sprint for a long fly hit by Sheely. Jack Farmer opened the festivities by cracking out a double at the very outset, " which, followed by a poor throw by Fit tery on Siglin's bunt and a hit by Ryan, i gave the Bees two. They made three more in the third on three walks and two hits, one of them by Lverenz, scoring j two runners. Two hits, a walk and a sacrifice fly gave them one in the fifth, and three hits produced one in the sixth. In the earlier in nines the Salt Lakers had the bases well packed practically all of the time. The Angels sneaked in a couple of iits in the first and another safe blow in the fourth, which were al! that Lefty al-( al-( lowed until the calamitous sixth. In that spasm a hit by Terry', ft walk for Schick and then hits in succession by Crawford, Foamier, Kllis and Bo!s, netted the home club four taiiies. All of these things happened hap-pened before anybody was out, but when ! the Lee fielders got going they wiped out j a couple with a double play. After the" Angeis had collected one counter in the eitrhth and were in a threatening mood, , loc Crandall went in to hit for the plth- 3 f-r.
