Show GIN. HELD PRiSDNER IN COLORADO CITY Arrest of Woman Clears Mystery of Disappearance of Esther Baird. That the mysterious disappearance of j Esther Baird of Brighton, who left her homo early in September, has been cleared up is the belief of Juvenile Officer Offi-cer George Robinson. Evidence that the girl had been detained in a rooming house in Denver was received in advices ad-vices from the Colorado city yesterday. A girl giving the name of Esther Biown and her address as Brighton, Utah, appeared before the juvenile officers of Denver Saturday and asked the arrest, of Neihe Frey, a rooming house keeper, on a charge of white slavery, ?nd the woman wo-man was then taken into custody. She was supported in her claim by Lydia Adams, both girls asserting that they had been held prisoner in the woman's : house. I The girl from Brighton said that site left her home early in September with ; a girl friend who had been a cabaret entertainer in Salt Lake and that on reaching Denver she remained, while her friend went on to Kansas City, leaving her stranded. She said that she then met the Frey woman, who treated her nicely and invited in-vited her to live at her home, but that later she was not allowed to leave. The Frey woman is bein held by the Denver authorities and will be turned over to the government for prosecution. Officer Robinson said last night that he was certain that the girl in question was the Ba'ird girl and that iie will today ask Judge Ben Lindsey of Denver to intervene in-tervene and send the girl back to her home. |
