Superintendent Johnson put the questionnaire ques-tionnaire into effect during the first week of school to create interest in vocational work, and alpo to asceriain how many t would be willing to help harvest war p crops in the event that arrangements are made for making up school work. The latter plan does not meet with the approval ap-proval of cannere and manufacturers., who would have the schools closed entirely en-tirely during the harvest season. The compiled report on the questionnaire question-naire shows that J 10 students out of an enrollment of more than 600 at the senior high school, returned the question blank t ircttlated by the superintendent, iuighty-seven iuighty-seven out of the 110 reporting earned a total of $12,140.30 during the summer vacation, va-cation, and thirty-three reported that they had worked during the period but d id not Kive the amount earned. Only forty-eight out of the 110 said they would accept work during the harvest in case! ; they are allowed to make up the school; work. In the three junior high schools 'with ' , a total enrollment of more than 1000 students, a total of 250 reported on the questions submitted hv the superintend-' 1 ent. Virtually all of' this number signified sig-nified a willingness to assist in harvest-: harvest-: iug war crops provided they may make up their school work. Funeral of Jolm Laible. - Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, Sept. 30. The funeral of John - Iaible, 62 years of age, who died at his home, 193S Lincoln avenue, last night, will ne held Tuesday with services in the German Lutheran church at 3 p. m. His t death resulted after a two weeks' illness ill-ness of heart disease. He was born in Germany October IS. 1855. and had resided re-sided In Ogden twenty-five years. The widow, two sons and three daughters survive him. Burglars Secure Valuable Clothing. Special to Tle Tribune. OODKN, Sept. 30. Frank Berrv, 2."7.1 Grant avenue, reported to the police this morning that burglars had entered his home some time Saturday night and had taken $300 worth of clothing: belonging to his daughter, Miss Calva Berrv. Mr Berry is manager of the Royal Dancing academy. |
