Show - SALT LAKE BOY WINS HONORS IN NAVAL SERVICE T T M. K, NELSON. HO.NOJR8 are being won rapidly by-Martin by-Martin R. Nelson, first class seaman sea-man and third class petty officer of the United States navy. This young man, who will be 21 years of age in November, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony M. Nelson of I54S Fourth East. He enlisted in the navy May 4, 1917. He was first assigned to the school for all apprentices at San Diego, Cal. Later with sixty-five others he was sent to Harvard university to take special training in wireless telegraphy. The test was the receiving by international code of ten words a minute. This special spe-cial schooling is regarded as tho best offer which had been made to sailors of the navy in some time. The qualified operators are expected (o go aboard ship at Boston for regular regu-lar service. |
