Pensacola and vicinity vi-cinity emerged from the battering last Friday of one of the most terrific tropical hurricanes that ever struck his section with no loss of life reported and with comparatively small property damage, considering the storm's violence. WASHINGTON, Sept. 30. Pensacola, Fla.. was not seriously damaged by the Indian hurricane, though a number of merchant vessels were driven ashore and the storm was of exceptional- violence. vio-lence. This information, the first to reach the outside world from Pensacola since Friday afternoon, when communication communi-cation was cut off, came to the navy department today from the Pensacola navy yard radio station. Damage to the navy yard was estimated at $iw).0oo. The department summarized its dispatches- as follows: "The navy department has received a i eport from the Pensacola navy yard which states that the estimate of the danu:gt done by the hurricane is about 5!00,0c0. The electric railroad between the navy yard and the city of Pen.sacola was, badly damaged. The damage to the seaplanes at the naval aeronautical training train-ing station was comparatively slight.
