Show SOUTH HECLA WILL ADD TO OUTPUT Road Conditions Have Interfered With Production in Little Cottonwood. George H. Watson, president and manager man-ager of the South Hcela, South Hecla Extension, Alta-Michigan, Albion and several other properties in Little Cottonwood Cot-tonwood canyon, said yesterday that while the South Hecla had during the week sent down only four cars of ore, the bad road conditions had been respon-j respon-j slble for this. , Now that the weather has improved, ! sa Id Mr. Watson, the output will be steadily increased, as there is a large ton-na.ge ton-na.ge of pay ore awaiting shipment. Mr. Watson said that on the South Hecla Hec-la Extension the raise on the silver-copper ore shoot, ir.n feet on the Quiney tunnel, the crosscut to the southwest had been extended twenty feet, with favorable favor-able Indications that the miners were nearing the Marix fissure. At the Alta-Michigan Mines company's property a drift is being sent otit on the Quincy tunnel to get the Kate Hays vein. Some ore is already coming into the face and the anticipation Is that the ore shoot will be reached within 200 feet. At the Albion, favorable appearances are in the drifts to the southwest and the northeast on the Kate Hays vein, small bunches of direct smelting ore allowing in both faces. |
