Show PROGRESSIVES WIRT WILT1T0 REMAIN Chairman's Resignation to j Be Formally Tendered at Reunion Tonight. Utah Bull Moosers have indicated' an unwillingness to accept the resignation of Senator Wesley K. Walton as chairman chair-man of the. "Progressive state central committee. His resignation has not vet been received by the committee and is , not to be tendered until next Monday,! although announcement of his intention i was made by the senator about three weeks ago. Since Mr. Walton announced his intention in-tention of resigning the chairmanship i and retiring from politics scores of j prominent Bull Moosers of the state j have urged him to reconsider the matter ' and accept the titate leadership for an- I other term. Just what action he ex-' peets to take has not been made public. Progressives believe, however, that if there is any show for a good lively political po-litical fight the war horse of the party will consent to remain on the firing line. The matter will be th reshed out at the annual Lincoln day meeting of the Bull Moosers of the state, which will be held at the Newhouse hotel next Monday. The state central committee will meet at 10 o'clock in the forenoon and during the afternoon there will tie a mass meeting meet-ing for the purpose of reorganization and for the selection of delegates to the national conference to be held in tit. , Louis. The affair will wind up with a big ; banquet at the Newhouse hotel at 7 o'clock, that night with the members of the state legislature as guests of , honor. Stephen H. Love has been selected se-lected as toastmaster for the evening and the principal address will be given by Dr. L. G. (rowans, state sunerinten- dent of public instruction. Governor Simon Bamberger has been invited as a guest of honor and is expected to make a brief address. Short talks by John -D. Murphy of Ogden, Lewis Larson of Manti, George N. Lawrence, Parley P. Christenscn and Representative Grace Stratton-Airey are included in the programme. pro-gramme. A musical programme will be given bv Miss Evelyn Oorless, William J. Fox, Mrs. Amy Gourles, Miss Annie Jones and Miss Mary Jones. Other details in connection with the affair wMl be worked out today at the semi-weekly luncheon which will be held at the AVilson hotel at 12:15 o'clock. |
