Show FID IS AVAILABLE PGR ROAD PURPOSES Federal Highway Engineer Prepares Statement for This District. Detailed information as to the amounts of federal money to be available between now and .July 1, 1321. for expenditure on roas in Utah, whereby there will be expended ex-pended to exceed 52,700,000 on highway betterment during- this period, provided the stale legislature adopts the recom- : niendation of the county commissioners and the stale road commission, as now I seems likely, has been prepared by C. It. : Kendall, senior highway engineer of the ; federal roads bureau in this district. For Utah there lies already been apportioned ap-portioned S57.0H0 for the fiscal year of 1917. which begins June M0 and ends July 1. There is ready for disbursement for the fiscal year of to be made tiiis coming June, $114,000 on the postal routes. The amounts for the next three years are. respectively, re-spectively, ?271,0i0, S32S.000 and $385,00. In addition every year, commencing with the fiscal year of 1017 and continuing continu-ing for ten years, there is an appropriation appropria-tion of $41.0011 coming to IT tab annually for use of roads wholly or partly in forest for-est reservations or adjacent to them. A most lucrative source of revenue to the state of Utah, and one, according to Engineer Kendall, winch is increasing in value each year, is the 10 per cent return re-turn to the state to be apportioned to the conn lies from revenues of forest reserves re-serves in tiie respective counties. Whereas this amount was but Sl.OO for the fiscal year of 1917. it is expected expect-ed hv forest officials to jump lo f uliy $30,000 for IMS, being available July- 1 this year. This increase is due to the increasing value and consequent hiuher charges for grazing privileges and also due to the sale of timber and other privileges in the reserves. The revenue over the five-year period cannot be estimated esti-mated hv the forestry officials, although they declare that there is every reason to believe that this fi'rul will prove the means of assisting the counties fur above the expectations of either state or federal officials when it was established. t |
