Show TO SPEND MILLION ON GREAT JUBILEE Additional 3250,000 Proposed for Monument Monu-ment to the Late E. H. Harriman of Union Pacific. 1 Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, Oct. 27. The expenditure of not less than $1,000,000, together with an additional $250,000 for a per-j manent memorial to the late E. H. Harriman, Har-riman, are features of the first definite plan for Ogden 's railroad exposition in 1912, according to the action taken tonight to-night at a meeting of representative business men of the city. It was decided de-cided that the celebration shall be known as " Ogden 's Jubilee of the Golden Spike. " In order to start early preparations for the celebration it was decided at , the meeting to incorporate nn associa-; tion for handling the affairs of the ex-j position. Officers of this association; will be named at a later meeting. It was determined that the exposition,; which will commemorate the fiftieth an-1 ui versa ry of the joining of the Central Cen-tral Pacific and Union Pacific railroad?, shall be national in scope and continue throughout the summer months of 1919. The plan which held favor among the promoters tonight is the erection of exposition ex-position buildings of a permanent nature. na-ture. Tn its main aspect the exposition exposi-tion will .be a transportation congress. The unveiling of the $250,000 monument monu-ment to the late railroad builder is to bo made one of the features of the celebration. The nature of this memorial me-morial will be decided upon later. The committee which was appointed by the directors of the Ogden publicity bureau to work out an exposition plan and which reported tonight is composed of A. P. Bigelow, Fred J. Kiesel, H. E. Bristol, A. R. Heywood, Albert Scow-croft, Scow-croft, M. ft. Browning, L. K. Eecles, Fred G. Taylor, James H. Douglas, Johu S. Lewis, A. T. Wright and James Plngree. The committee selected tonight to-night to draw a constitution for the association as-sociation and also articles of incorporation incorpora-tion is composed of A. E. Heywood, chairman; Fred G. Taylor, Albert Scow-croft Scow-croft and J. H. DeVine. Fred J. Kiesel, the first man to propose pro-pose a memorial to Mr. Harriman, was appointed chairman of a special subcommittee sub-committee to handle this part of the exposition plan. Others on this committer com-mitter are J. H. DeVine, E. K. Bristol, James Pingree and James H. Douglas. The two subcommittees are to reach an early decision and report in a few days to the general committee. |
