Show MOB MEMBER CONVICTED. ! i Not many weeks ago an attempt was i made to lynch Sheriff Sherman E. Ely of Lima, Ohio, for respecting his oath of office and protecting a negro prisoner from mob law. It was one of the most disgraceful episodes in the history of the Buckeye state. But reason has returned re-turned to the community and the members mem-bers of the mob, thirty-four of them at least, are to answer for their outrageous out-rageous conduct at the .bar of justice-One justice-One of them, Strvker by name, has just been convicted on a charge of attacking at-tacking the sheriff with the intention of lynching him, and the others will be placed in the prisoners' dock as fast as possible. As the penalty for such crimes is from one to ten years in state's prison, it is to be hoped that all the men who took part in this particular par-ticular affair will be given their just deserts and that their conviction and punishment will serve as a warning to all others who may wish to take the law into their own hands and stain their souls with the blood of a fellow creature instead of allowing the law to take its course. |
