Show "U" MEN WANT NEW ELIGIBILITY RULES A petition was drawn up bv Happy Van Pelt, football captain at 'the University Uni-versity of Utah next year, which was signed yesterday by a large number of the "IT" men at the local institution, requesting re-questing that the rigid eligibility rules which prevail at the university be modified modi-fied to an extent that will allow Utah athletes to compete under the same circumstances cir-cumstances as do the Provo men. The petition points out that the eligibility eligi-bility standards at the B. Y. IT. are not nearly so strict or rigid as those prevailing prevail-ing at the local Institution and throughout through-out the Rocky Mountain conference and states that B. Y. U. athletes represent their school under conditions which would bar (hem if they attended the University of Utah. The petition asks the faculty to grant the "U" athletes the same opportunity. The petition is the result of the decision de-cision of the Provo athletic auf horities to allow Orton Durham to represent the institution in track. Durham entered the institution at midyear and would not have been eligible at the local ' university under the same' circumstances. |
