Jeremiah Jere-miah ( Lynch of New ork lias been trieil ami eonvii'te'l by a. court-martial in London on a charge of iiarticipatiug in the Jri?h rebellion. The sentence was to be promulgated today, but no vor't has been received .by the American Ameri-can ombaj-sy here as to what sentence was imposed. The news that Lynch had been convicted con-victed bv a court-martial was received by the "embassy from the American consul in Dublin. Previous to this last-news last-news the embassy had of Lynch was ( that under the defense of the realm act, he was prohibited from leaving the' five-mile zone of Dublin. Can Be Extended. This provision, as a rule, only applies i 1 0 hostile aliens, but can be extended to friendly aliens. It was extended to r Lvnch, as he had been making trips to western Ireland. Lynch was a resident resi-dent of Dublin for some time. Timothy Itealy said in the house of commons today that ho understood .lames M. Sullivan, former American minister to the Dominican republic, had been kept in .jail in Ireland for eight days without a charge being lodged against him. No Apology Made. When he was finally released, Mr. Tlealy said, no apology was made. Mr. Jlealy asked Foreign Secretary Grey to ascertain "what explanation was offered bv General .Maxwell (the Brit-i:-i commander in Ireland) for the vigorous vig-orous treatment to which Mr. Sullivan was subjected."
