Show I MM BOYER IS ' Eight Contestants in Competition Com-petition Under Sons of American Revolution. D. An pus Boyer was declared winner in the oratorical contest conducted by the Sonsof the American Revolution at the University of Utah last night. Mr. Boyer "s subject fas ''Commerce and International In-ternational Peace.'' Lawrence Wallace was given second place. His oration was ' ' Militarism Versus Preparedness. Prepared-ness. ' ' In all, there were eight contestants last night who had survived the elimination elimi-nation contests held earlier in t lip day. Originally about forty students entered the contest. The others who tool; part were Wallace Kelly, Harold Hoare, Jay Tipton, Dan Smedly, Mary Watkins and Hyrum Cartwright! As a prize for his victory Mr. Boyer was awarded a gold medal by the Sons of the American Revolution." It is the intention of that society to make the contest an annual affair at the university. univer-sity. The only stipulation concerning suoiect matter will be that the theme shall be a patriotic one. N E. O. Lee of the Sons of the American Revolution was chairman at the contest last night.
