A speck of dust in a relay, a worn spot on the insulation of ono of Ae thousands thou-sands of fine copper wires, or a loose connection in one of the myriads of soldered joints in a switchboard, will interfere with the service. 1 For this reason it is necessary for us to employ a corps of "testmen" and f "repairmen" in our exchanges. They are always on the alert to discover "trouble" in the "inside" plant and every effort is exerted to correct it without delay. Hundreds of cases of "trouble" are detected and repaired that never corns to the attention of the subscribers whose lines are affected. This watchful, careful attention reduces breaks in the continuity of service to a minimum and is a factor in maintaining your service at a high standard stand-ard of excellence.
