Show DYKE DESTRUCTION TO BE CELEBRATED Blowing Up of Gamhoa Dyke Will Be Subject of Special Programme in Tabernacle. Salt Lake will celebrate the blowing up of the Gamboa dyke on the Panama canal next Friday. A programme is being be-ing arranged to bo given in the tabernacle taber-nacle from 7:30 to S;lo o'clock. Similar celebrations aro being planned all over the United States, as the blowing up of the Gamboa dyke virtually marks the completion of the greatest part of the canal work and means the blasting apart of the northern and southern continents of the western hemisphere. Ono of the features of tho programme will be the participation of the school children of the city. Students of the Unlversltv of Utah, tho L. D. S. university, univer-sity, the high school and the grade schools of the city will appear. lhe tabernacle choir and the students will render musical numbers. The speakers will be Governor Spry, aravor Park and Congressman .Joseph Howell. Tho Rev. P. A. Slrnpkin will deliver de-liver the invocation. They will be introduced intro-duced by Secretary Will G. Farrell of the Commercial club,, which is preparing the programme. The entire meeting will be limited to threc-ctuartcrs of an hour, giving giv-ing those who attend llmo to go to the theater or spend the evening in any way thev desire after attending the exercises. |
