Mr. 'Pratt has been a resident of the city for forty-five years, and this is the first times that lie has been a candidate for a political office. Ho has given considerable nttention to water supply matters. The Socialists f.re arranging 'io hold a meeting, the latter part of the week to discuss the matter of holding a. city convention con-vention and nominating candidates for the city offices. It is generally understood under-stood that the majority of the party favors fa-vors a convention. C. B. Stevens, deputy city auditor, iB tho first man to announce his 'candidacy for the chief position, now held by W. H. Shearman.
