Whlttler sped around the track, lowering the former for-mer track record by throe-fifths of a second and appronching the world's record rec-ord to within 1 3-5 seconds. M. rules and ho tried It again, lowering It the second time by a fifth. Just preceding the races, Ray L. Peck, who has beon winning consistently recently re-cently and -who waB sohcduled as Whll-tlcr's Whll-tlcr's opponent In the class A match last night, had an unfortunate accident with his Excelsior machine. While -taking his machine through, Peck fell, both he and tho motorcycle going Into tho water. As a result ho was forced to rldo a strange machine and to this he attributed his losing the race. When told of tho offer, Peck agreed to this and declared himself eager for the test.
