Show LABOR DAY "WAS QUIET. Labor Day in Salt Lake yestorday was colcbrated by resting, rather than by demonstration. There wore outings and. plcnB.mt exorcises, but nothing of a general character by way of celebration. cele-bration. Tho day was fine, not too warm. Tho rain of the night before had cleared tho atmosphere and modified modi-fied tho heat. There wore rains in tho hills at various points through the day, but the valley was dry and pleasant. Tho day was advantageously used, and every one will bo refreshed by tho quiet rest, especially after tho noisy demonatrntions of tho Wizard carnival. Tho fitness of this rest is recognized by all, and it is certain that tho duy could not have been more appropriately appropriate-ly oniplo3'ed than in indulging in that rest; and tho quiet was a grateful succession suc-cession of the noisy demonstrations of tho latter part of tho week before. We arc sure that every one will feel tho bettor by reason of the quiet day, I and will begin work this morning in bettor spirits and with a more willing mind and body, than if tho day had boon spent in laborious exercises, and the carrying out of a slated programme. |
