Show MARKET IS WEAKER, BUT OUTLOOK GOOD James A. Pollock & Co.. bankers and brokers, furnish the following, received over their private wire yesterday afternoon after-noon Paine, Webber & Co., Boston Today's market was more nervous and reactionary. reaction-ary. Traders who bought stocks early in tho week were inclined to take profits rather than carry them over Sunday. However, considering the advance made this week, the action of tho markot Is highly satisfactory and with occasional reactions we believe prices will gradually work higher. The metal market has undergone un-dergone a remarkable Improvement this week. Sales of 75.000,000 pounds have been made, two-thirds of which was for export, the price ranging from 14ic to 141c Logan & Bryan, New York Tho market mar-ket receded moderately on realizing sales, which was not unnatural after tho buoyancy buoy-ancy displayed yesterday. Offerings, however, how-ever, were quite well taken and the list, as a whole, may be said to have displayed a rather firm undertone. The only news of Importance was that bearing on the foreign situation, advices In connection with which appeared to suggest that efforts ef-forts will be made to forco a resumption of peace negotiations at an early date. The bank statement presented a rather fair exhibit, but as far as monotary conditions con-ditions are concerned it is still realized that a pronounced expansion of loans at this center would probably militate against the contracting tendencies In loans in the Interior, and, therefore, while more cheer Is In evidence, and while underlying un-derlying conditions seem to denote that the prevailing level of security prices Is attractive from an investment viewpoint, view-point, the belief that moderate turns should be accepted appears warranted. We rather anticipate an active trading market and continue to favor the buying side on the occasional recessions. Gallagher, New York The New York curb market was extremely dull, there being practically no feature. The oils, tobaccos and Industrials remained steady, with small trading. The mining stocks were dull and heavy. |
