A unique text book designed to "bridge tho gap" between first and second year Latin is one put out by Miss Eleanor Peterson, formerly a teacher teach-er in tho local high school and now instructor in-structor for Latin in the New Haven high school. Miss Peterson has called her book "A Latin Catechism," and the name is no loss novol than tho method of treating a subject which has for years been a stumbling block to Latin students. Tho book consists of J 00 questions and answers which cover all tho necessary neces-sary forms and constructions in a concise con-cise and an interesting way. It contains con-tains 100 Latin phrases with the corresponding corre-sponding Unglisli phrases on another page. Tt has a list of 100 verbs, prin cipal parts and meanings, and a list of the various compounds of those verbs. There aro 100 sentences to be translated translat-ed into Latin, which give a thorough vocabulaiy drill. The book -was put out in New Haven tho latter part or May and has exhausted exhaust-ed its first edition. It is being used in tho New Haven high school and has been in demand, by Yale students and others who wanted the worst difficulties difficul-ties stated in a way possible for mastery. mas-tery.
