Show BROTHERHOOD OF OWLS ENJOYS SOCIAL SESSION Salt Lake nest No. 51. Brotherhood of Owls, held an enjoyable social session after the business meeting of the lodge JMondav evening, ln the Boyd Park building. build-ing. Josoph G. Cecil prosldcd. Songs were sung by Robert Stlrrat, and a number num-ber of amusing stories were told by John Dunn and L. L. Warner. Refreshments wero served, and a general all-around good time was had. Negotiations arc now being conducted by Secretary John Dunn with tho American Amer-ican Order of Owls, which are expected to result in the affiliation of tho local nest of tho brotherhood with that body When the 0wl3 were first organized ln the L'nlted States, the society was called the Order of Owls. One of the supreme officers. It was charged, tried to use the order for grafting purposes, conducting his schemes not only outside the ordor. but also within. As a result of this alleged misconduct on the part of the supreme officer, a large number of Owls seceded and organized organ-ized tho American Brnnch of Owls. The Brotherhood of Owls is separate and distinct dis-tinct from either of these, having been organized at Walla Walla. Recently there has boen dissatisfaction with the administration of the Brotherhood of Owls, and the Salt Lake nest now seeks affiliation with tho American branch. It Is expected that the negotiations will result re-sult in such an affiliation within a short time. |
