An attack upon Mrs. Maybclle Thompson Christy-was Christy-was begun by her nusband, Howard Chandler Christy, tho artist, in the probate pro-bate court here today, when the defense introduced testimony In the suit brought by Mrs. Christy to obtain possession of twelve-year-old Natalie Christy. Attorney c. C. Bcmcrt, for Mra. Christy announced that they would present pre-sent no more- evidence. The deposition of Attorney Frank F. yandover of New York was read In be-; half of Mr. Christy. The attomoy said he had had several conferences with Mrs. Christy, and that she had told him that she had "cut out booze" and had nothing more to do with Purdy. tho former Christy chauffeur, who was frecjuently mentioned In last week's testimony. Van-dever Van-dever also quoted profane language which he alleged Mrs. Christy used In conversation conver-sation with him. Howard Chandler Chrlsiy testified in his own behalf today at the trial of the habeas corpus proceedings brought by his wife for possession of their child, Natalie. Christy freely , admitted the truth of most of the charges made against him by his wife and witnesses, but Insisted that since ho took up the Christian Science faith two years ago ho has completely reformed. |
