Show MURDOCH CHOSEN AS COUNTY C0MM1SS10MEB Former City Councilman and Mayoralty Candidate Given New Job. James D. Murdoch, a member of the city council up to January 1 last, and a candidate for mayor on tho Church Republican ticket last nil, wan on Monday Mon-day chosen as county commissioner to fill the unexpired term of former Chairman Chair-man James D, Clinton, who recently resigned re-signed on account of ill health. Mr. Murdoch will hold ofllco until the end of the present year, when Mr. Clinton's term would have expired. As soon as he files his bond In tho sum of $5000 the board will meet and organize by electing a chairman. The selection was made by Commissioners Commis-sioners John C. Mackay lnd Walter J. Burton, and It Is said that Mr. Murdoch Mur-doch had the support of the Republican city commltteo which, no doubt, felt that It owed him something because of his sacrifice ln permitting his name to be used on tho ticket last fall for mayor. Mr. Murdoch Is a civil engineer by profession pro-fession and has served ln the city council coun-cil and is a man of wide experience. It Is understood that Mr. Mackay, who has dominated tho board for aoveral years past, wanted to namo a man from the county, but tho city committee overruled over-ruled his desires In this respect and secured se-cured Mr. Murdoch's appointment. |
