Show LICENSE REVOKED BT M NHL Rathskeller Loses Permit, but Action Will Be Reconsidered; to Discuss Labor Question. By a vote of six to three, the city council coun-cil at Its meeting Monday evening revoked re-voked the retail liquor license of the Exchange Rathskeller on Exchango place. Councilman Reed, however, who voted In the affirmative In order to be with the prevailing vole, Immediately gave notice of reconsideration next Monday night. Ira Gllflltan, special license officer, offi-cer, who was tho city's principal witness wit-ness In the case, was recalled, and testified testi-fied that liquor was sold at the rathskeller raths-keller contrarv to the Sunday ordinance. After the hearing, the matter was discussed dis-cussed at length on the floor of the council, coun-cil, and while the council was one In Its belief that technically the law had been violated, several of the councilmen expressed the opinion that the violation had not been willful. Others, however, argued for the enforcement of the lav. Those voting In favor of revoking the license were Councilmen Fernstrom, Hall. Ia'CS. Lvne. McKInney and Reed. Councilmen Coun-cilmen Davis and Morelon and President Presi-dent Ferry voted In the negative. President Ferry, as mayor pro tern, presented to the city council an Invitation Invita-tion from some of the city's prominent business men to attend a meeting of citizens, which will be held at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Wilson hotel, ho-tel, for the purpose of discussing the employment em-ployment of labor and the kind and extent ex-tent of public improvements most needed need-ed by this city. The invitation was accepted ac-cepted by the council, after which an adjournment was taken until next Thursday Thurs-day night at 7:30 o'clock. |
