Show GOV. JOHNSON TAKES JOB AWAY PROM FORMER RIVAL SACRAMENTO. Cal., Feb. fi. Governor Johnson appointed State Treasurer W. R. Williams today to succeed Alden Anderson Ander-son ns state superintendent of banks. Tho bill recently passed by the legislature, which made It possible for the governor to depose Anderson, was signed shortly before be-fore the appointment of Williams was announced. an-nounced. Mr. Anderson was one of five candidates candi-dates for tho Republican nomination for governor at. the primaries lasc August. During the campaign he resigned his position po-sition as Htate superintendent of banks. Governor Gillette, the retiring state executive, withheld action on tho resignation resigna-tion until just before quitting office, when ho accepted it and reappointed Mr. Anderson An-derson for a full term of four years. |
