It has boon definitely announced hero today by officers of the Kings Trill Extension Irrigation company, limited, that wa-tor wa-tor will bo. delivered through canals covering the 8000 acres under tho extension ex-tension ditch in time for this 3'car's irrigation season, as promised, and it is further staled that a vigorous of-fort of-fort will bo made to deliver water on all tho land. In order to deliver water wa-ter for tho lands under tho reservoirs it is neccssar3' to complete in a short timo tho construction of two large dams. One dam will be an carthon structure containing something ovor 200.000 cubic yards of earth; tho other will be a masonry structuro of prac-lienlly prac-lienlly tho samo height of tho earthen dam but of much less length. L. G. Bradley, manager of tho company, com-pany, today stated that tho engineering engineer-ing work on t.heso structures had progressed pro-gressed to such a stage that his com-pan3r com-pan3r is now ready to let tho contracts for tho construction, and that tho bids will be called for in the near future. Ho stated that tho necessary tests had been mado to determine the na ni.'c of the foundation and to decide the nature aud form of the structures. Ho also stated that the lines of the gathering and distributing canals had been run so that tho contractors can be shown tho nature of the territory in which tho work will havo to be done. Tho specifications aro now being drawn and will bo ready in a few days. Mr. Bradlej' stated that tho compan3' expects ex-pects to let these largo contracts just as quickl3' as it can secure contractors at a proper figure to do the work. He stated that tho work will bo let by bid and that the company wishes bids from any contractors who aro prepared to do tho work. Tho completion of this system in time to catch this year's runoff will make prompt and decisive work ncccssar3' but will merin that the entire acreage of the Kings Hill Extension Irrigation company will be under water. While this 3'car's completion of the reservoirs is seriousl3' questioned by tho engineers engi-neers of tho company, tho 'management is determined to have them completed if possible, as tho laud is of so -high n character and the owners are so anxious anx-ious to start its cultivation that the compan3' feels added expense to complete com-plete the work so early is justifiable. |
