Pn has Just dollvorcd five trucks to tho Philadelphia postofflec for use In tho collection of packages and mail In northern north-ern and northeastern sections of Philadelphia. Phila-delphia. These trucks started In operation opera-tion on October 1 and replaced ten of tho old-style horse-drawn vehicles. Tho truck consists of one of the Autocar commercial commer-cial chassis, upon which Is mounted a body built to tho specifications of the United States govcrnmont. New contracts for carrying United States malls at Los Angeles, Cal.. In regulation screen wagons for tho period beginning July 1. 1010, and ending June 30, 101-S. will bo let by tho postofflec department, de-partment, and proposals from bidders will bo received by the second assistant postmaster general up to January I, 1910. Postmaster M. II. Flint Is advised bv the department that proposals to perform service on tho route with automobiles of such style and construction as may bo acceptable lo the department will also bo considered. Each proposal must be accompanied ac-companied with a stateirient, naming the kind of motor vehicle to be used and' giving giv-ing a detailed description of the motor and wagon, also giving the limit of speed permitted for such vehicle in Los Angeles.
