Tho reports of the Nevada Consolidated and Cumberland Ely companies for tho quarter ending March 31, showing tonnage of ore extractod, gross value, cost of extraction, transportation transpor-tation and reduction of same, wore this week filed with the county assessor of White Pine county as required by law. Tho report of Newida Consolidated shows 500,553 tons of ore mined during the quarter, which had a grosB value of 51.922.759.04. Cost of extraction was $283,403.99; cost of reduction amounted to $1,125,239.91, while tho transportation of tho oro amounted to the sum of $131,-208.19. $131,-208.19. The net yield was ?382,846.65, on which amount tho company will pay a bullion tax of $l.S6 on the hundred, or the lump sum of 57120.95. The report of the Cumberland Ely shows a total of 1093 tons of ore extractod ex-tractod of a gross value of 52S.S24.01. The cost of extraction Is reported as $3251.21; cost of transportation $306.93, cost of reduction. $12. 720.78. On Its net yield for the quarter of $12,545.00, the Cumberland Ely company will be assessed with a bullion tax of $233.33. The Veteran mine of tho Cumberland Ely company has not been In operation slnco the labor troubles last July, and no ore has been actually mined by this company com-pany during the past quarter. Tho report re-port of tonnage Is derived from tho smelting and marketing of secondaries and by-products, which have been hold In storage at tho Steptoo smelter. State Bullion Ta. Collector James F. Haley has complimented the management of the Nevada Consolidated and Cumberland Cumber-land Ely companies on the promptness with which their reports are turned In and their evident desire to comply with the bullion tax law In every particular. Compared with tho last quarter of 1909. the report shows a slight Increase In tonnage, ton-nage, but a falling off In total value and in not yield. Total expense for tho quarter quar-ter was about 590.000 less than for tho previous quarter. Thursday was pay day at the smelter at McGlll and about $130,000 was disbursed dis-bursed by tho Sioptoc Smelting & Mining company. At Copper Flat, tho Nevada Consolidated company will Issue chocks to about 500 men. This week will occur the pay days of tho Glroux Consolidated, the Ely Central and several smaller companies com-panies and also that of the Nevada Northern railway. The total pay roll of the Ely district is estimated at about a quarter of a million. |
