Show Catholic Church at Tooele Nearing Completion St. Marguerite's church, Tooele, Is nearing completion and will be ready for dedication late next month or early in July. It is located at Utah and Fourth avenues in the new part of the smelter city. Many of the railroad and smelter employees are Catholics in faith, as well as a considerable percentage percent-age of the now population of tho town who havo come to engage in business. Henco the necessity for a place of worship, as there ts novr no Catholic I church in the town. March 6 last the corner stone of the church was laid with appropriate corenionies, and in four months from that date it is expected that everj'thing will bo in readiness for the dedication .bv Bishop Scanlau. The Tooele Building association contributed con-tributed the site for the structure and supplied building materials at cost, thus' effecting an additional saving of $500 The Tooolo Improvement com-' panv, through John N. Kirk, its presi- dent, gavo .r500 in cash- Altars, pews, tho sanctuary lamp and other furnishings furnish-ings came from St. Mary's pro-cathedral in Salt Lake. From the pro-cathedral also camo the bell that is now in place. It is a perfect bell, splendidly cast and is noted for tho sweetness and clarity of its tonos. The church has been blessed, and within its walls a child was baptized two weeks ago bv the Rev. Father Kielr. Fittingly, s"ho was named Marguerite. |
