Show OLD OFFICERS E00DJ0UEH Utah Association of Credit Men Pays Compliment to Ks Oflicials. ANNUAL MEETING HELD SATURDAY AFTERNOON Report, of President Shows That Association Is in Good Condition. All of tho old officora of tho Utah Association of Credit Men . were reelected re-elected at the annual meeting hold in tho Commercial club building Saturda' nf tornoon. Arthur ParHons, Joseph Johnson John-son and 33. 31. Sparks of Salt Lake were elected delegates to the annual convention of tho National association, to bo held at New Orleans, May 17 to May 20, and tho remaining delcgato was left to tho selection of tho Ogdon memcbrs of the association. The officers of-ficers re-elected aro as follows: Arthur Parsons, president; M. IT. Sowles, vice president; P. L. Doran, secretary; A. D. McMullin, troasurer. Othor directors are J. "V. Delano, C. li. Long, S. J. Griffin, Arthur Ivuhn and J. T. Young. The report, of the treasurer showed that during the last year the association associa-tion has handled soventy-throo failures bv assignment, involving $227,626.55. Tlio liabilities of these failures was $217,294.57, and n total of $114,058.39, or an nverago of G2 per cont was paid to creditors. The avorngo paid in bankrupt, claims during the year was 1-1.20 por cent, and tho collections dopartmenf turned over $104,001.20 worth of "slow pav" accounts to tho mombers. The association gained twenty-two new members during tho year, mostly from Snlt Lake, Ogdon and Provo, with others from various towns of Utah, Idaho and Wyoming. Annual Report Made. Arthur Parsons, president of tho association, as-sociation, presented his nnnual report, covering tho business of tho association for the last year, in which he commented com-mented on the campaign of the crodit men to bring about a "better condition of affairs in Utah with regard tofiro insurance. IIo said it had been found that in too many instances no insuranco was carried and in other cases tho amount of insurance wns entiroly too small to afford reasonable protection to creditors. Mr. Parsons said that tho distribution of a largo amount of literature lit-erature from tho office of tho association associa-tion had resulted in about $75,000 of firo insurance being takeu out where it was needed. Another subject taken up by the president in his report was the question of establishing a oranch office of the association at Ogdon for tho accommo dation of tho many members in that city. Ho said tho directors had not had time to work out the details of this proposition, but they regarded it ns worthy of further careful consideration, considera-tion, inasmuch as it would result in benefit to all of tho members. Tho annual meeting was attended by about, thirty members of tho association associa-tion and it was held in tho rooms of tho Salt Lake Ad club. Adjournment was taken at 4:30 until tho annual banquet at tho Commercial club at 6:30 o'clock. |
