The local lodge of Elks, No. S5, has been awarded (ho prize for having the greatest atteudnnco of ladies at the Elks' convention which met last week in Denver. The prize is a Bilver elk, which it is estimated will be worth in the neighborhood of $1000. The award -was announced Thursday and waa a decidedly de-cidedly gratifying piece of information, to tho Bait Lake mombers of the fraternity. fra-ternity. A second prize of $200 each for tho same purpose was given to Kansas Kan-sas City and to Davenport, la. A prize of a gold bar, worth $750, for the greatest mileage traveled waa won by Pittsburg, the delegation from which city had a total of 98,000 miles. The second prize of $300 was given to Brooklyn, with a credit of 6S,000 miles, and a third prize of $200 was won by Syracuse, the aggregate travel of which delegation was 49,000 miles. |
