Show SEMI-FINALS REACHED IN LONGWOBD TOURNEY Contest for Eastern Championship Champion-ship in Doubles Also bearing bear-ing That Stage. BOSTON, July 2G.The soml-flnais were reached today In the lawn tennis tournament tourna-ment for Longwood cup while the close of the contest for Iho Eastern championship champion-ship In doubles was within one match of that stage. Tho ourvlvorB of the singles are: W. J. Clothlos and E. 3. Dewhurst of Philadelphia Philadel-phia and R. M. Behr of New Haven and F. G. Anderson of New York. Tomorrow Clothier will play Dewhurst, while Behr will meet Anderson. Bostonlans Loso Hard Contest. In the doubloB the favorite for tho finals, Hackott and Alexander and Clothier Clo-thier and Larned, won their matches today to-day In straight sots, although the Boston pair, Johnson and Johnson, gave Clothier Clo-thier and Larned a hard contest. Tho feature match of tho dny was the contest between Dewhurst and Robert J.eroy of Now York. Five set3 were played before the Philadelphia expert won. Of the nine matches played during the day In the Eastern doubles only two required re-quired cxtrns. Dana and Gross plnyed a four-set match with W. B. Hayes and N. W. Cabot, whllo Hallowell and Waro put out Poll and Leroy In a hard five-set contost.
